🔹 What is a Chemical Reaction?

A chemical reaction is a process in which one or more substances are converted into new substances with different properties.

🔹 Examples:

  • Magnesium + Oxygen → Magnesium oxide
  • Iron + Water + Oxygen → Rust (Iron Oxide)

🔹 Types of Chemical Reactions:

  1. Combination Reaction: A + B → AB
  2. Decomposition Reaction: AB → A + B
  3. Displacement Reaction: A + BC → AC + B
  4. Double Displacement Reaction: AB + CD → AD + CB
  5. Oxidation and Reduction (Redox): Gaining/losing oxygen/hydrogen

🧪 Important Equations to Remember:

  • Zn + H2SO4 → ZnSO4 + H2
  • 2H2 + O2 → 2H2O
  • CaCO3 → CaO + CO2 (Decomposition)
